Project Nurse vacancy in lymphoma research

JIPMER Medical Oncology invites applications for one Project Nurse under an ICMR-funded study of Epstein-Barr-virus positivity in aggressive mature B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The research examines prevalence and the genetic basis of its effect on disease biology and survival in the Indian subcontinent. The appointment is contractual under Dr. Prasanth Ganesan, with the notice referring to Puducherry/Karaikal. This is a research-support nursing role rather than a regular institutional Staff Nurse recruitment.

Essential education and registration

Applicants need Class 12 with science subjects and BSc Nursing or an equivalent nursing qualification. Registration as a nurse with a State Nursing Council is essential. Check the current registration evidence alongside educational certificates before applying. The notice does not specify that GNM alone is an alternative to the stated BSc Nursing/equivalent route, so applicants should not substitute a different qualification without confirmation from the recruiting project.

Tamil and preferred clinical background

Fluency in spoken, written and reading Tamil is essential because the work involves patient communication and consent. Experience caring for haematology or oncology patients is desirable, as are clinical research, data collection and other research experience. Language ability is therefore not simply a preferred extra in this vacancy. Describe both clinical experience and patient-facing Tamil communication honestly, especially if your previous work was outside Tamil-speaking settings.

What the nurse will do

The official duties include collecting blood samples, extracting information from patient records, collecting data from patients, entering information into a database and helping manage consumable stocks. These tasks link clinical sampling with study documentation and inventory control. The advertisement does not publish a ward shift roster, a particular database product or a daily sampling target. Applicants should assess their suitability from the published responsibilities instead of assuming a routine inpatient-nursing schedule.

Age, pay and duration

The maximum age is 30 on the application closing date. The likely appointment is for one year. Consolidated monthly remuneration is ₹33,600 including HRA, with no other allowances payable. This is externally funded work that can be extended or curtailed under the project's conditions and carries no claim to a regular JIPMER post. The notice explicitly marks this Nurse post as not being considered for a future extramural project-PhD stream.

Application email and deadline

Email the filled prescribed form, CV and supporting certificates scanned into one PDF to [email protected] by 5 November 2026 at 5 pm IST. Identify Project Nurse in the subject and use the instructed Candidate-name_Post-name_year_application filename style. The prescribed application asks for personal information, education, work experience and supporting evidence. A CV-only email is insufficient. Keep your contact details active for any shortlisting or evaluation notice.

Certificates and selection information

The notice's checklist includes self-attested identity, age, degree/diploma and experience evidence, with relevant research records where applicable. Nursing registration must support the essential criterion. Shortlisting uses the application, CV and documents, followed by the notified written-test/interview process. The evaluation template does not supply a detailed filled-in subject syllabus, so no fixed paper pattern or marks distribution can be promised. Dates are to be notified later, and no TA/DA is paid.

Preparing a relevant application

Application guidance: explain how you have performed safe blood collection, documented patient information accurately, supported consent communication or maintained consumable records. Use examples without personal patient identifiers or confidential case details. If your strongest experience is general nursing, state that clearly and distinguish it from oncology research exposure. Recheck JIPMER's Medical Oncology recruitment announcements for updates and follow the actual invitation's interview mode and document instructions.
